KSO rebuffs allegation against SDO

IMPHAL, Aug 22 : The Kuki Students’ Organisation Gunpi Block/Chakpikarong Block has dismissed the allegations levelled against the Chakpikarong SDO by Anal Lanruwl Tannpi, Anal Chiefs’ Association Chakpikarong and Sinurruw as baseless.
Speaking to media persons at Sugnu, Poipu Veng this afternoon, KSO Gunpi Block/Chakpikarong Block secretary Shogen Mate said that they have conducted a spot enquiry about the allegations levelled against the Chakpikarong SDO.

The allegations that the SDO Chakpikarong being communal and irregular in attending office besides misusing development fund were found to be baseless during the spot enquiry, Shogen said.
The block levelled KSO also appealed to the three Anal civil organisations not to issue press statements which may cause misunderstanding among different ethnic groups in Chakpikarong area.
Saying that the Anals constitute just 20 per cent of the population of Chakpikarong Block, Shogen Mate asserted that the voice of the Anal community cannot represent the voice of Chakpikarong.
Two years back, some people tried to draw cash from SBI Chakpikarong branch at about 7 in the evening which objected by the branch manager resulting in a scuffle.

In the aftermath of the incident, the SBI Chakpi-karong branch was shifted to Kakching. In the same manner, some people were making false charges against the SDO Chakpi-karong with the intention to exercise control over the SDO, the KSO secretary said.

Objecting any move to transfer or suspend the SDO Chakpikarong, Sho-gen, however, suggested that the Chakpikarong SDO office may be shifted to Sugnu hill area where there is adequate security if the SDO office is for the welfare of all communities.

He also appealed to re-locate the SBI Chakpi- karong branch from Kak-ching to Sugnu hill area.
Shogen Mate proposed that any issue related to Chakpikarong Block may be discussed and take appropriate decisions jointly by all communities of the block.
The KSO Gunpi Block secretary expressed desire for peaceful co-existence for socio-economic betterment of all communities of the block.

Taking part in the press meet, chairman of the Dingpi Area/Khengjoi Block Kuki Chiefs’ Association, Tongkhothang Khongsai hailed the recent distribution of solar lamps in Dingpi area by MLA Thangkholun Haokip, Chandel District Council Vice-Chairman, DC Chandel, MANIREDA Director and SDO Chakpikarong.

He further appealed to the Government to upgrade Khengjoi SDC office to the status of an SDO office.
