CM announces; Paite as link language of AIR Ccpur

Imphal, April 13, 2010: Chief Minister Ibobi today made the much eagerly awaited announcement that Paite dialect will be the link language of the All India Radio station of Churachandpur.
After inaugurating the local radio station (LRS), the Chief Minister, O Ibobi, who earlier had no plan of delivering speech at the function, but was called upon by the compere, Ms Vijaya Yumlembam to speak a few words, said that he felt extremely happy to be able to inaugurate the LRS of Churachandpur.
The AIR Churachandpur station was all ready for inauguration way back in 2000, he said.
After intense discussions with all concerned, the state government has decided that Paite should be the link language.
Because it is the language of the majority of the people settling in Churachandpur town, Chief Minister said.
He appealed to all people not to misunderstand the government’s decision.
Deputy Director General, AIR, North East Region-II, C Lalrosanga, who presided over the function, welcomed the chief guest and all the Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and MP, and thanked the Chief Minister, O Ibobi for taking “a bold decision” to inaugurate the LRS.
Superintending Engineer, AIR Imphal, Md Kamaruddin, while speaking at the brief function, said that the LRS of Churachandpur will broadcast its programmes on 6 KW transmitter power, and will be available on 101.4 Mhz.
The station will cover 50 km radius.
