NSCN(K) leader Kito Zhimomi during a media briefing
IMPHAL, Mar 22: Without including the issue of sove-reignty, the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN)/NSCN (K) would never enter into talks with the Government of India, the prime minister of the outfit N Kito Zhimomi has stated.
Addressing a press conference at the Khehoi desig- nated camp of NSCN (K) near Dimapur yesterday, Kito observed that for peace and reconciliation to come about, there is the need to work together among the Nagas. But the issue of Greater Nagaland or Smaller Nagaland has been posing difficulty among the Nagas.
He further said that the main political ideology of GPRN is sovereignty. At the joint working committee meeting held at Hebron, proposal had been raised to call off the peace talks with the Government of India.
Maintaining that the problem of Nagas is one of the oldest issue in the South East Asia, Kito categorically stated that without including the issue of Naga sovereignty, GPRN would not enter into talks with the Government of India.
Solution to the issue of Nagas is to be brought about by the Naga people themselves. Nagas have to remain as Nagas. But the Nagas living in other States cannot claim the land of their settlement as their own land, Kito said, adding that there can be no solution without unification. He also disclosed that pact against the common enemy had been signed with the underground groups in Manipur.
Home minister and finance minister of GPRN/NSCN (K) were also present during the press conference.
