Imphal, Sep 23: Ahead of the reception of five time women’s world boxing champion, MC Mary Kom scheduled for September 25, a statement issued today has appealed to the people to join in welcoming the champion pugilist. Urging students and civil society organisations to participate in the celebration, the statement said the reception procession would proceed through the same route where Mary Kom used to take during her training in the early period. The procession route starting from Airport will cover Post Office, Singjamei, Kongba, Wangkhei, Soibam Leikai and Khuman Lampak Sports Complex via Minuthong, where an official reception programme is being planned. After the reception Mary Kom will head for her National Games Village residence along Dingku Road, Kanglapat road, BT Flyover, Uripok and Iroisemba areas. A thanks giving programme would be held at her residence, it added.

Preparations afoot for Mary Kom reception

Imphal, Sep 23: MC Mary Kom, five times World Boxing Championship will be honored with a fitting celebration comprising of mass procession and grand reception program at 11am on September 25 at the Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

In a press release issued by the Secretary of MC Mary, the procession will take the route the Champion used to take during the early years of practice. Starting from the airport via Governor Road, Post Office, Singjamei, Kongba, Wangkhei, Soibum Leikai, Minuthong and towards the Southern Gate, Khuman Lampak.

After the reception program, the procession will proceed towards National Games Village, Mary Koms residence via the Northern Gate, Dingku Road, Khongnang Ani Karak, Thau Ground, Kanglapat, BT Flyover, Uripok, Iroishemba and then at National Games Village where a blessing ceremony will be held.

The release has asked people and civil organizations to participate in the celebration and has also requested schools and institutions to join the celebration by standing aside the procession routes to receive and wave to the legend of boxing.
