Essentials airlifted to Manipur

Guwahati, May 17 – The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has airlifted 35 quintals of rice to Manipur today and another 35 quintals would be sent tomorrow by air to meet the demands of the people.
The rice would be distributed at Rs 16 per kilogram and the limit would be five kilograms per family.

Manoj Kumar Gogoi, General Manager, FCI (NE) informed The Assam Tribune over phone that the State
which is facing a tough time, would be supplied other essential commodities like wheat and sugar in a phased manner.

The available stock would run for the next few days, Gogoi stated.

Road blockade by various groups has created shortage of essential commodities in Manipur.
