24th North East Games, 2010 State emerges overall team champion

Imphal, April 23: State emerged overall team champion in the 24th North East Games, 2010 as the event concluded today at Nehru Stadium, Shillong, Meghalaya. Manipur won 40 gold, 21 silver and 29 bronze at the end of the event and emerged team champion. In football Manipur beat host Meghalaya in the third place’s match and won the third position.
Manipur won 11 gold, seven silver and five bronze today and won the overall team champion’s title.

In Wushu events, Manipur won six gold, two silver and one bronze medals. N Niroda (48 kg), Th Binapani (60 kg), L Romen (48 kg), Th Beishnop (66 kg), Y Arun (60 kg) and W Sanjoy (65 kg) won gold in Wushu. P Sakuntala (45 kg) and M Robert (75 kg) won the two silver of India in Wushu while the lone bronze was won by W Nanao (52 kg).
In athletic, Ch Sarita of Manipur won a gold in the final day in 5,000 run.

In boxing event Manipur won four gold, five silver and four bronze medals. Sh Sarjubala (46 kg), M Sanaton (51 kg), M Kalyani (48 kg) and Sh Basanti (50 kg) won gold.

A Bony (48 kg), Ng Hemba (57 kg), S Jugindro (64 kg), Rojitkumar (75 kg) and Inaosana (69 kg) won the silvers of Manipur while the four bronze medals were won by Lakia Soibam (57 kg), Y Sandhyarani (63 kg), Th Joymati (66 kg) and Th Khagemba (60 kg).

Medal tally of Manipur:

Judo : nine gold, one silver, one bronze.
Karate : one gold, one silver and two bronze.
Athletic : two gold, three silver and eight bronze.
Boxing : four gold, five silver and four bronze.
Table Tennis : one gold, two silver and three bronze.
Archery : four gold, three silver and two bronze.
Wushu : 19 gold, six silver and two bronze.
