First foundation day of IGNTU held

Imphal, September 09:: Barely a day after the Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) flayed state government for its alleged "Usual delaying tactics" in the works for setting up permanent regional campus of the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, state education minister, L Jayentakumar has said that non-getting of forest and environment clearance was behind the delay in infrastructures development at Makhan village of Senapati district.

The MUTSU had, in a statement, yesterday flayed the state government for unable to complete the formality in the land acquisition and obtaining clearance from the Union ministry of Forest and Environment for setting up the tribal University.

Speaking as chief guest at the first foundation day of the IGNTU, the minister said that government was ready to start the infrastructures and other developmental works at its permanent complex as soon as the mandatory clearance is received.

The first foundation day of the IGNTU, Regional campus was held at the temporary campus at Tribal Research Institute at Adimjati complex, Chingmeirong.

Jayentakumar said that the infrastructural development works will be started as soon as the necessary clearance to be given by the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment.

Further speaking on the occasion, the minister said that government was giving special emphasis for the development of education system of the state asserting that for the future sake, there is the need for producing ideal students.

The celebration function was attended by professors and students of the university.
