IAS Deputy Commissioner, CCPur District
By: Mr.T.Billy Khongsai
Pi Jacintha Lazarus has been brought up in a mature Christian family. She had an impeccable academic record since the days of High School Life. Her smiling and beautiful face attracts people of all sorts. She is friendly, amiable and peaceable with all and sundry. She finished her graduation from the Holy Cross College in Commerce stream. She has been a native of Nazareth in Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu.
She attempted the Civil Services Exam thrice. In her third attempt, she bagged the 27th Rank in the IAS Exam in 2004 at an early age of 25 years. She had gone up to the Interview-stage in her very first attempt. She took Commerce and Public Administration as the two Optional for the Civil Services (Mains) Exam. She used to study 10 hours a day devotedly. In her interview with the prestigious newspaper The Hindu in 2004, she said that it was time for her to give something back to the Indian Society. She has been the cynosure of all eyes in Churachandpur District. Prof. S.R. Maheshwari in his book ‘Indian Administration’ described the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as ‘The Heaven-born Service’. The IAS is the 'Steel-frame of Indian administration’.
As an exemplary Christian officer, she is a woman of integrity and efficiency coupled with economy and effectiveness. To maintain esprit de corps and cama-raderie amongst her team of District Officers, she is convening the District Level Co-ordination Committee(DLCC) meetings at regular intervals. She is more than a POSDCORB officer. She adjusts her administrative skills according to the vicissitudes of modern life. She works hand in hand with all the departments of the district, including the DRDA. She distributes funds and schemes smoothly for the welfare and development of the district. Under her leadership, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) is implemented in all the Sub-Divisions of Churachandpur district. Irrigation works, construction of roads , bridges, drainages, plantation of trees and horticultural crops to fight Global Warming, etc. Have been undertaken by the villagers and the townsfolk in Churachandpur District. She personally visited the Vangai Range in Churachandpur District. She undertook inspection of tree-plantatipons at Bungmual village and Patlen village respectively. There is a remarkable maintenance of Law and Order in the District. There is peace and communal harmony in the district of Churachandpur under the aegis of Pi Jacintha Lazarus.
She meekly received the Memorandum of the COPTAM rally in Churachandpur. It is hope that the 29 villages which experienced Overlapping CensusOperations in Churachandpur District would be solved amicably by the Government. A few lines cannot describe and conclude the Samaritan works of Pi Jacintha Lazarus, IAS. May God bless her and her family abundantly!!! Let there be peace and love shared amongst us.....
