Imphal: Troops of 29 Assam Rifles, launched search operation in general area village Chalktong in the international border areas yon Sunday and seized three IEDs.
PRO of Assam Rifles today said the column approached near track turn towards Border Pillar No 85 in the Manipur Myanmar border areas in Chandel district and noticed some disturbed foliage and loose leaves on the track. They immediately took position away from the site. Taking calculated risk, the commander approached the site and detected a wire cutting across the track.
Officer realising that IEDs had been planted in the area, immediately moved the column away and carried out careful and meticulous search. Two IEDs were at the chest height along the hill side.
The officer showing presence of mind and determination organised destruction of the IEDs in situ, the PRO said. (UNI)
