Fencing-hit Mizos call bandh
Aizawl: Affected people of Indo-Bangladesh border fencing in Mizoram have called for an indefinite bandh in the southern districts from April 6 due to alleged non-payment of compensation.A statement of Indo-Bangla Border Fencing Affected Families Resettlement Demand Committee here on Monday said the bandh is inevitable as the authorities turned a deaf ear to the repeated pleas of the affected families for their rightful compensation.The Centre has been erecting fence along its 4096.7 km-long border with Bangladesh running through five states of West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.
