RIMS staff suspend pay strike

Imphal, March 20: Striking employees of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences suspended their agitation today after the institute’s director gave a written assurance to clear their salary arrears by March 24.

The grade III and IV staff had been on strike since Thursday to demand immediate payment of 60 per cent of their arrears in accordance with the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.

In another development, chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today inspected the progress of infrastructure development of the proposed Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences.

Koteshore firing case: The Manipur Peoples Party today demanded the resignation of chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh over the advocate-general N. Koteshore Singh firing case and sought an “impartial inquiry” into the incident.
