RJD expels MLA Ngursanglur

IMPHAL, Nov 18: After the sitting MLA from Tipai-mukh A/C Ngurshanglur Sanate has been expelled as an active member of RJD State unit, the party has reportedly initiated nece- ssary procedures for the expulsion of its Legis-lature Wing leader MLA He-llauddin Khan and MLA Thangkhulun Haokip as well.

Ngurshanglur, Hella-uddin and Thangkholun were elected in the general elections to the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly on RJD ticket. Hellauddin was elected from Lilong A/C while Thangkholun from Chandel A/C.

RJD State unit was established in June 2005 with former Chief Minister Wa-hengbam Nipamacha as its first president.

Yamkho-ngam Haokip, who was a candidate from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the last Parliament election, is the incumbent president of the State unit.

MLA Ngurshanglur Sanate has been expelled from the party as an active member on alleged charge of violating rules no. 21 of the party’s constitution.

Senior vice president of the party Prof K Kumarjit had issued an order in this regard on November 15.

According to a reliable source, the party has also started initiating necessary process to expel the two remaining MLAs of the party, Hellauddin and Thong- kholun from active membership of the State unit of the RJD on similar charges of violating the constitution of the party.

Of the charges levelled against the three MLAs, Hellauddin has been charged with not attending office and performing his duty while he was the president of the party while Ngurshanglur and Thongkholun have been charged with working against the interest of the party during the last elections to the Parliament and Autonomous District Council.

The latter two MLAs have also been charged with working for the success of the Congress candidates in these elections from their respective Constituencies despite fielding party candidates apart from lacking interest in activities of the party and failure of turning up for discussion on financial matters of the party.

On the basis of these charges, show cause notices have been issued from the side of the party to the three MLAs on October 24 last giving 15 days time for giving their response. However, as none of three MLAs have responded even after expiring of the deadline, a executive meeting of the party was held on November 14 to discuss the matter. Accordingly, the meeting decided to expel Ngurshanglur from being the active member of the party and initiate necessary process for expulsion of Hellauddin and Thongkholun.
