Imphal, July 18; The kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) has clarified that the trouble that occurred at Leitanpokpi village was created by two drunk cadres who deserted the party .
The two cadres had not gone with permission of the party authority, the KRA said and tendered apology to the villagers of Leitanpokpi, and appealed to them to live in peace as usual.
This was conveyed by Publicity Secretary of KRA, T Simte through mediapersons today.
Simte revealed to the mediapersons during a briefing held somewhere in Saikul areas this afternoon that the two cadres had deserted the camp carrying one M-15 rifle along with 100 live rounds. They consumed liquor and got drunk, then they quarrelled with the villagers of Leitanpokpi.
The villagers caught hold of them, beat them up and handed them over to the 23 AR post at Sagolmang. It is not true that the two were arrested by a combined force of Imphal East commandos and AR during an operation, Simte said. He said, the two wayward cadres had been placed under suspension.
He clarified that the KRA has not made any demand for money to the villagers of Leitanpokpi and will never make such demands in future as well.
The objective of the party is peaceful coexistence of all communities of the region in mutual love and harmony. All the Mongoloid people of the North Eastern region should live together with mutual love, cooperation and understanding. It is not the party's desire to have the neighbouring states and communities living in the region to fight with each other, the Publicity Secretary of KRA said.
He further said that the party wants all the insurgent organisations operating in the North East to join hands and work together for the same cause.
He also appealed to the villagers of Leitanpokpi not to have the slightest fear in their minds for the unfortunate incident, and urged them to stop taking trouble to protect the villagers by staying awake at night and such.
Secretary of Information and Publicity, KLO/KLA, Addy Kuki, who also took part in the press briefing, told the media persons that the allegation that the KLO/KLA took percentage from the Department of Horticulture, Chandel district is completely false. The party has nothing to do with such allegations, he said.
Moreover, no cadre of KLO/KLA operates in Chandel areas. The officials of Horticulture Department were simply trying to cover up their misappropriation of official funds by maligning the image of the party, he said, and asked the officials to make a clarification in this regard soon.
