Imphal, May 3: The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the People Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday while reaffirming its quit notice issued to non-Manipuris alleged there was a hidden agenda behind the influx of immigrants in Manipur, where unrest and violence is the order of the day.
An email statement of the front signed by its publicity secretary, T Leisemba, RPF said “Manipur is one of the most economically and educationally backward states in the Northeast. Its population originally descended from Mongolia, and there is mounting political influence by the Chinese authority in the region while adding that the RPF does not consider suffering farmers and labourers of India as its enemy.
Despite the political turmoil in the state and the order issued by the RPF demanding the non-Manipuri’s to leave the state, the RPF however expressed surprise at the steady rise in the influx of non-Manipuris, terming it as instigation by the Manipur government, and Indian army to SoO signatory KNO to oppose RPF’s policy.
The statement also stated the threat by one Sher Khan, a self styled Naxal CPI (Maoist) of the Tirhut sub-zonal committee forcing Manipuris out of Bihar, Jharkhan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal from June 30 has created confusions and uncertainties. However, it went on to add that Gopal, spokesperson of CPI (Maoist) Bihar-Jharkhand-North Chhattisgarh Special Area Committee, who has been working closely with RPF clarified that the CPI (Maoist) did not have anyone by the name Sher Khan and that it had no hand in driving out Manipuris from these states.
Nevertheless, justifying its order, the RPF stated its policy on the non-Manipuris was the fallout of the problems created by non-Manipuris in Manipur while adding “On the other hand it should be India’s policy to ask Manipuris to leave India because of problems created by Manipuris in India”.
The RPF while clarifying the statement made by Manipur chief minister, Okram Ibobi Singh’s claim that non-Manipuris have been staying in Manipur for more than 100 years, also added “Ibobi’s statement has shown that he could not understand the issue and he is trying to create a fear psychosis in the mind of the people”.
“If Ibobi is so ignorant we wonder what could be the level of understanding of his ministers. Our ruling class is nothing but puppets of Delhi. This class will not be hesitating to gift away their wives to please their masters”, added the statement.
