It went on to suggest that if the Government finds any loopholes in the operation, ‘correction and verification’ be effected at the actual site of the census and not at Imphal away from ground zero. Given that a second round of the census operation is still pending ‘with more specification and specialization methods’, ATSUM said that the Government should not go ‘hysteric’ prematurely over the growth rate of the tribals. It asked the State Government to revert back the alleged 10% abnormal growth of the census and a clarification be made to the effect.

Citing alleged Schedule Tribe posts and promotions being deprived in institutions of repute like JNIMS, Home, Assembly Secretariat, PHED, RD department, Fire Service, the tribal students drew the attention of the Government, failing to address ‘this final appeal’, an agitation will be launched, it further warned.
