Lamkans flay power failure

Lamka, Oct 3: A public meeting convened today at Zenhang Lamka over the failure to fix their transformer that broke down way back in May end resolved not to make any further payment to the Department but wait for them to deliver instead. Today’s public meeting that discussed in detail hardship faced by residents as a result of the Electricity Department’s failure to fix the transformer for over four months was convened by a committee comprising leaders from Zou Youth Organisation, Young Paite Organisation and the Khuga Tampak Youth Association.

Talking to The Sangai Express after the meeting, committee members clarified that the amount (Rs. 50,000) asked from them in addition to payment made earlier of the same amount could be for ‘coil’ or other expenses and not necessarily for ‘oil’ as they had alleged earlier. The fact, however, remains that they have been asked to pay an additional Rs. 50,000, said Mangpi, the committee’s secretary. It is pertinent to note that the Electricity Department had as well came out with a clarification that the amount the villagers are asked to shell out were meant for meeting the expenses on repairing the faulty transformer and not for the transformer oil.
