Imphal, Sep 4: The desig-nated camp of the 3rd battalion of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) has been inaugurated at Tui-nomjang in Sardar Hills today.
The designated camp christened as ‘Camp Sinai’ has two barracks, one office and a house for the visitors. The camp will house some 150 KNO cadres with arms which will be under a commander.
KNO is one of the two Kuki militant outfit umbrella body. The other one is UPF. Tuinomjang is just 28 kilometres from Imphal.

President of the Kuki Inpi, Sardar Hills unit Thangkam Lupheng while gracing the Camp Sinai reminded the Kuki militants not to forget the pledge not to disturb the civilians. The Kuki Inpi chief of Sardar Hills unit also reminded the cadres about their pledge to fight for the Kuki cause.
Speaking of the occasion, KNO ‘home secretary T Antone recalled the formation of KNO and said that the umbrella organisation of the Kuki militant outfits was established in the year 1988. KNO has 15 army wings, said T Atone.

Dwelling on the problems faced by the KNO in all these 20 years, Atone said that since the signing of the pact Suspension of Operation (SoO) in the year 2008 with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur, things have changed. “This is a big step forward in achieving the Kuki nation,” the KNO leader said.
Atone also said that once the Kukis were considered strong, fearless, tall and wealthy but after facing many wars since 1917, the Kukis became poor.

The Kuki militant leader then said that the Kuki Inpi is the only right organisation to judge or take up matters pertaining to cases in Kuki areas.

Atone then appealed all sections of the people to stop hunting wild animals, and also to stop using chemicals for fishing but to preserve the nature.
