Another camp for UGs opened in Ccpur

LAMKA, Aug 18: A designated camp meant for the 2nd Battalion of the Kuki National Army, KNA, a signatory to the Suspension of Operation, SoO, with the government of India has been inaugurated at Camp Salem in a grand function at Sangaikot area located near the village of Mongbung today.
The inaugural function was attended as chief guest by the Kuki Inpi, Churachandpur president Henneihao. Leaders of various students union from the districts, tribe leaders, village chiefs as well as church leaders attended the occasion in various capacities apart from the different rank and file of the KNA.

After the Kuki National Flag was unfurled by Khongsai, singing of the anthem followed with the salute by the cadres following.

During his camp report, TS Kuki, the KNO defence secretary disclosed that out of the five designated camps proposed four have been accepted and construction has been taken up in full swing since the year 2009.

He said a designated camp for the 1st Kuki Army battalion was inaugurated earlier in Chandel and this is the second of its kind, while adding it has been named Camp Hermon.

Stating that Salem means peace and has been taken from the Bible, he said 100 to 200 cadres will be made to stay at the camp Salem under the command of a CO rank official. At present there are about 60 cadres lodged at the camp, said a source. The construction has taken 16 months to complete.

The chief guest during his speech pointed out the need for respect and obedience to the leaders while advising the leaders in turn to know that leaders are born to maintain qualities like caring, helpful and so on.
