DoNER retains Rs 38-cr projects

New Delhi: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has retained Rs 38 crore projects for sanctioning Infrastructure Development in various sectors including education, power, communications and water resources for Manipur.
The sanctioned costs for the projects would be met from the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) fund administered by the Ministry.

The decision to this effect was taken at the 83rd Meeting of the NLCPR Committee held here recently.

Mines and DoNER Minister B K Handique said that steps were being taken to hasten the process of sanction to facilitate the early execution of projects under NLCPR.

He hoped that the thrust given to augment education infrastructure would play a pivotal role in nurturing the human resources of a talent rich state like Manipur, said an official release issued here on Tuesday.

Thrust was given towards augmenting education infrastructure by allotting a corpus of Rs 8 crore for the infrastructure development of the seven Government Colleges in Manipur.

Additionally, Rs 5 crore was allotted for modernisation and strengthening of the Government Polytechnic at Takyelpat, Imphal. (UNI)
