Killed PRA cadres identified

Imphal, May 15(HNS): Identities of the five armed militants killed by the troops of Assam Rifles at reserved forest area of Beru Khudam in Chandel district on Friday were established today. They were activists of the Pakan Reunification Army (PRA), official reports said.

Meanwhile, the Kuki National Organization (KNO) has condoned to the killing of five PRA activists to the Pakan Reunification Army in a statement dispatched to the media houses today.


The five slain activists were identified as WA Soso (27) son of WA Jacky of Khambathel village of Chandel, HB Sibingson (19) son of Livingstone Anal of Tapokpi village, Chakpikarong, Th Rockson (26) son of Th Wangdok of Kotal village under Khengjoy sub-division, Hamuthang Bungdon Anal (43) son of BD Lumharing of Khubi village of Chakpikarong and Paocha Haokip (25) son of Thongsat Haokip of T Gangpijang village.

Various bruise marks burning with fire and hitting with blunt weapons like butts of guns were found to the bodies of the five slain activists.

Families said they based in Churachandpur and went to the camp of the 21 Assam Rifles in civil dress after they were summoned and suggested that they would had been killed after tortured in the custody of the AR authority even though Assam Rifles authority had claimed they were killed in gunfight with the recovery of arms and ammunitions.

Meanwhile, KNO has sent condolence message to the PRA and families of the five of its killed cadres.

A statement issued by it’s under secretary, publicity and information secretary, T Stephen Kuki also identified five PRA cadres killed as W Motilar @ Momo (Defence Secy), Th Rockson @ Koko (Accountant), HB Don (PRO) and Ngamlien @ D Naocha (Corporal).

The Pakan Re-Unification Army (PRA), according to a statement issued by Jacky Anal, C-in-C PRA was formed in November 21, 2007 at Khobung Camp, Chandel to reunite the Pakan community. PRA is part of the Kuki National Organization which signed the SoO with the government on August 22, 2008, the KNO released stated.

Although the PRA is not part of SoO, its status comes under "noted" organization following due information provide to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the government of Manipur, the statement added.
