Lamka May 4 : Altogether 98 candidates tipped to vie in the run upto District Council Election for 24 seats at Churachandpur ADC segments passed through the scrutiny held today at DC/ Ccpur office from 11 am to 3 pm .
Voters are going to give their verdict on the 26th May 2010 when they go to polls for the first ever ADC election to be held since the last morethen 20 years back to ensure restoration of effective local administration in this fast growing yet undeveloped district of the state .
Four candidates including two from 20- Sagang constituency namely Smt Gasmani from RJD as well as Thehkholun from Independent party have been disqualified on the grounds of being under age in the former cases and wrong proposal in the latter cases.
The other two who were disqualified in todays scrutiny were L Khaidoukhup from 7- Vangai constituency owing to electoral problems whose name was in the E- Roll outside the ambit of Vangai Constituency while the second person namely S Doukam an independent candidates from 17 - New Lamka East constituency due to inability to deposit security .
Unlike in many of the preceding election either for the MLA/ local body , this time round MDC election witness the entry of women in politics standing as candidates in the fray .
From 23 - Muallum constituency Ms Zamneiching has stood as candidates . In the same vein Ms Nemkhohat from 2 - Leimatak, Tingneu from 3 - Henglep, Lamkholhing Haokip from 13 Kholmun constituency were tipped to face their contenders neck and neck in the election according to sources .
Official sources has said withdrawls date has been fixed at 6 May next.
