Imphal, Feb 21: The BJP unit of Manipur has urged State Governor Gurbachan Jagat to take appropriate measures to check skyrocketing prices of essential commodities on the one hand and fulfil the demands of teachers on the other.
A delegation led by BJP Manipur Pradesh president Sh Shantikumar submitted a memorandum to the Governor in this regard today.
After the district-wise organisation of protest rallies and dharnas, the Manipur BJP unit called for specific directives to check the price rise of essential commodities and solve the demands of school teachers.
There is no control of the skyrocketing price rise in the Imphal market, the memorandum said. PDS items like rice, onion, garlic, sugar and kerosene are not supplied to the common people, BPL and APL card holders, it added.
The Secular Progressive Front Government in the State has completely failed on this front, the memorandum alleged. Calling for action against erring officers, the meorandum demanded appropriate steps by the State Chief Minister. It also urged the redress of the teachers’ demands in the larger interest of the student community. The memorandum was signed by BJP State unit president Sh Shantikumar Sharma, vice presidents S Ibohal and S Lala, general secretary Th Shyamo and other office-bearers.
