Imphal January 18(HNS): A photo exhibition on development initiatives in north east opened today at Synod Hall, Churachandpur, by Langkhanpau Guite, Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur.
The exhibition was organized by the Field Exhibition Office, DAVP, Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Imphal to disseminate information about the pace of various developmental projects undertaken by the Centre in the North-East region, including Sikkim.
About 150 photographs depicting the life, cultures and development schemes of the north-east are prominently displayed in the exhibition. Among them about 20 photographs of MGNREGS & SSA of Churachandpur, was the cynosure of all visitors.
Addressing the occasion, Langkhanpau Guite said “the exhibition provides a ray of knowledge about the centrally-sponsored schemes in the north-east”. He further says that “seeing the photographs is like taking out excursion”.
Calling upon the gathering to welcome the development initiatives taken up by the government, the Chairman stressed “photographs are the best evidence to know how far we have reached in developmental front”. He also stressed that “Churachandpur has a great potentials and opportunities in tourism sector, which still needs to be explored so that it can serve as a pivotal measures for the growth and development of the District.”
Highlighting the aims and objectives of the exhibition, Gin Gangte, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal said “the government has done various welfare schemes for the people. It is in this context that, this exhibition is being organised to give a better understanding and awareness on developmental projects being undertaken by the government in the north east.”
Terming the Bharat Nirman programs of the UPA Government as the ‘New Testament of Development’, he advocated the use of RTI as a means to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the people.
Later, a thematic song, ‘Mera Bharat Jindabad’, composed by Gin Gangte was presented by artiste PCL Thuoma, amidst loud cheers, applause and appreciation from the audience. The program was attended by government officials, teachers, students, social activists, media- persons, among many others.
