Bandh deferred

IMPHAL, Dec 8: The JAC against the killing of Ngamkholet Baite has announced its decision of suspending the proposed indefinite Manipur bandh from December 9 temporary following the written assurance given by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to fulfil its charter of demands as well as in consideration of the numerous appeals made by social and religious organisations in connection with the Gospel centenary celebration and Christmas eve programmes.

In a statement, JAC chairman S Suantak has also expressed gratitude to Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Chairman of MTDC T Manga Vaiphei and MLA of 41-Chandel A/C Thangkholun Haokip for their initiatives in negotiating with the Government.

The JAC has also expressed its gratitude to the student and civil organisations particularly Zillai, KSO, ZSF, CDSU, etc for their unconditional supports.

Furthermore, the JAC appealed to all UG groups to stop senseless killing of innocent civilians and levelling charges after being killed without giving any warning.
