For the past couple of months there have been continuous protests by people all over the state on the issue of kidnapping. Disregarding threats to their lives, people have condemned the actions of the underground groups. Monmon Devi, a social worker said, "We have children home in Dewlahland. We are social worker and since 1971 working over there. We are taking care of the children, but what these underground groups are doing is not good." In fact, all sections of society are suffering at the hands of militancy as extortion, killing and mindless violence are coming in the way of progress.
The fear is visible on the faces of children. "We can't study. So, please stop this kidnapping of child. Instead of this, please bring peace. Let's live a happy life," said one of the students. Another student added, "I'm so scared. I feel what happened to others might also happen to me. I feel scared to go to school." Schools are affected by premature closures and disturbances. The parents and students are worried about an uncertain future. In a state where the educational infrastructure needs to be upgraded, where opportunities are few, such disturbances badly affect the people who only want peace and prosperity.
