Speaking to media persons here, the Union Minister said, “It is a matter of grave concern, and necessary steps would be initiated very soon to address the issue after studying the implications.”
“Be it for business interest or any other purpose, no one would be allowed to violate any rule concerning the nation’s security,” he asserted.
“Security concerns are to be taken into consideration by all the service providers while issuing SIM cards for mobile connections. The thrust should be on proper verification before issuance of SIM cards,” he stated.
Kamat was here to lay the foundation stone for a postal training centre in City’s Beltola area.
The proposed postal training centre will be a residential training centre housed in a 10-acre campus.
He also informed the North-East will have more mobile towers very soon for further expansion of BSNL services in remote regions.
Kamat further said that the Centre would help the postal staff from Assam and the entire North-East in a big way.
He expressed the hope that the proposed centre would go a long way in ensuring the formation of a technologically sound, knowledgeable and customer-friendly workforce in this region.
The North-East also expected to have the first fully computerized postal network in India, and the training centre will play a crucial rule in achieving that.
Referring to the further expansion of broadband services, he said that post offices in villages and semi-urban areas would be provided solar power connectivity to have better services for the people.
