The Hindu newspaper misidentified Mizoram CM for Meghalaya CM

The Hindu, a Chennai-based Indian national newspaper has misidentified Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla for Meghalaya Chief Minister Shri D.D. Lapang while reporting about the change of guard in Shillong, Meghalaya and has published the image of Mizoram CM instead of Meghalaya CM in its online and offline publications.

The news report was all about Meghalaya politics and the incumbent Chief Minister Mr. Lapang who is stepping down as the CM of the State but the Reporter has put up the picture of Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla, who has nothing to do with the news item.

It was also printed in the offline newspaper. The coverage is done by Paritosh Chakma at his blog, visit Paritosh’s blog here.
There is no resemblance between the two. See the pictures below:
CM of Meghalaya and Mizoram
(Shri D.D. Lapang, CM of Meghalaya, left and Pu Lal Thanhawla, CM of Mizoram, right).
In fact, the picture of Mr. Lapang above is from the Hindu online website itself (see here, scroll down to see it), a few googling could have helped this reporter.
We hope the news piece will not cost the reporter his job. However, next time we expect a better reporting for such an acclaimed national newspaper.
