Police clueless on bank robbery
Dhubri: Police could not make any breakthrough in the biggest-ever bank robbery at the Salkocha branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Dhubri district. A gang of robbers escaped with Rs 18.5 lakh from the Salkocha branch of the SBI on Saturday night. Sources said the robbers, who had come in two vans, broke into the bank and used gas cutters to open the vault of the strongroom.
Arrested
Guwahati: Police arrested Azhar Ali, 35, from Goalpara on Sunday night for his alleged involvement in the murder of businessman Manoj Kalita, 32, at Gotanagar here on February 17. A case has been registered at Maligaon police outpost.

Nalbari: The district transport officer of Bongaigaon, Pabitra Baisha, was arrested on Monday on charges of allegedly indulging in corrupt practices during his tenure as Nalbari DTO in 2007-2008.
