NE Agri Fair concludes

Imphal, Mar 26: SN Puri, Vice chancellor, Central Agriculture University (CAU), Imphal announced on Friday that a building for Central Agricultural Technology Information Centre (CATIC) would be constructed so as to make the farmers accessible with the experts and scientists for increase in the agricultural products.
He stated this while attending the three-day North East Agri Fair at Central Agriculture University (CAU), Manipur. The Agri fair concluded on Friday.
Addressing the function, SN Puri stated the inconveniences are being faced by the farmers of the State in accessing the experts and scientists for discussing agricultural based queries. He also informed that the farmers would be able to get the information on using the technologies required in the agriculture and therefore would enhance in yielding agricultural products. Despite the good amount of rain in the hilly region of the State, water is apparently not stored owing to the non availability of water reservoir in the hill region, stated SN Puri. He also said that with the introduction of technology informa- tion centre, the farmers of the State can be imparted with the training on agriculture and therefore acquire full knowledge on agriculture.
Meanwhile, M Ruhikumar, Director of Research, CAU stated that the introduction of new technologies in agriculture would increase the productivity of agriculture.
Dignitaries SN Puri, M Premjit Singh, Director Extension, CAU, Dr VT Raju, Dean, PG College, Barapani, Dr Sheela, Dean, Home Science College, Tura, Dr Iboton Singh, Dean College of Agriculture were the chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
