Bodies congratulate Mary Kom

Lamka/IMPHAL, Sep 22: The KSO General headquarters today joined others in congratulating world champion pugilist MC Mary Kom and hailed her achievement as no inferior than the legendary Mohammad Ali, reports our Churachandpur correspondent. The whole of Kuki community is immensely proud of her achievement which is unparalleled in the history of Indian sports, and ‘the KSO-GHQ salutes the little fighter MC Mary Kom – the golden girl of Indian women boxing for winning the world boxing championship title for the fifth time,’ said the student body in a release today. The statement signed by its President, Peter H Mate, as well said it sympathizes with the predicament of the association of DPC successful candidates.

“The KSO sincerely appeal to the authority concerned to resolve this issue at the earliest for ignoring genuine demand of the DPC successful candidates without any valid reason would compel the KSO and other sister organisations to take necessary steps for the cause of justice,” he said. Kom Rem Union Manipur (NEI) and Kom Rem Students’ Union have congratulated MC Mary Kom on winning the women world championship title for the fifth time. The bodies in a joint press release said that Mary Kom has overcome all odds to reach the milestone.

Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur (ZSUM) also congratulated the boxer for her magnificent victory. The union said that the cash award of Rs 10 lakh as announced by the State Government is too meagre for a player of her stature.
