Four injured in clash among Kuki militants

Imphal, July 21: Fresh clashes erupted today among the Kuki militants included in Suspension of Operation near Seijang village located at the border between Saikhul police station of Senapati district and Lamlai police station of Imphal east, four persons injured in the gun clashes evacuated in Imphal and treated at Shija Hospital.

Reports said the gunfight among the militant groups erupted from early morning today and went on till afternoon. Details reports of the incident could not be culled out till the time of filing the report.

But, at least four persons injured in the gun clash evacuated in Imphal and admitted at Shija Hospital, Langol. They were Thanglialal (54) son of S Taothang of Tuiching village, Tinki Kipgen (22) of Molnoi village, Hemang (21) son of Thangboi and Henlun (20) son of Kamlen of Kangpokpi. They reached at Shija Hospital at about 8 pm.

According to the injured persons at the hospital, the gun clash was between cadres of KLF and a combined group of KRA and KLA. It was erupted in the early hour of today from near Seijang village and escalated towards the Tuichin village.

Hospital source further said that Thanglialal received four bullet injuries the left thigh. He also sustained injury at the private part while Tinki injured at the head with bullet. Both are under serious condition.

According to the family members, they were all civilians and sustained injuries by stray bullets during the gunfights.
Reports of killing of cadres and other casualties could not be ascertained for the time being as police is yet to enter the spot.

UKLA (MC) denies hand in abduction
IMPHAL, Jul 21: Clarifying that it has no connection with abduction of Dr Punal Chakraborti, a post-graduate student of RIMS from Molnom area in Churachandpur on July 20, UKLA (MC) has categorically  stated that the allegation made against it in this regard is wrong and baseless.
In a statement, information and publicity secretary of UKLA (MC) T John Kuki said that the outfit has never
indulged in such coercive act nor knew anything about Dr Punal. Any attempt to tarnish the image of UKLA (MC) would be dealt appropriately.

John further said that UKLA (MC) is deeply respect people like Dr Punal who serve humanity and would encourage him to continue with the good work without any apprehension in future as well.
