Govt schools not to be outdone: Science 3rd topper

IMPHAL, May 20: The government schools are not far behind the private schools, said Nongmaithem Nilima, the third position holder in science stream of the higher secondary examination, 2010, from Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School.

Nilima is the third among the four children of Nongmaithem Ibotombi, a lecturer of DM College of Science, and Nongmaithem Indrani, a government higher secondary lecturer, of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, in Imphal West.

She secured a total of 453 marks out of 500 with letter marks in English, Alernative English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

The hardworking girl also wants to do MBBS and desires to serve the society as a specialist doctor.

Expressing her deep concern over the present scenario in the state, she told IFP that the students, who are the future pillars of the society, should not be affected by the myriad social issues of the state. The students should be encouraged by all to devote their time and labour to their studies rather than distracting their minds, she noted.

She said that she studies regularly without keeping any chapter pending and she listens to the radio and watches good movies in her leisure time.

Nilima also advised other students to work hard and set the right targets so as to excel in their lives.

In the High School Leaving Certificate Examination of 2008 conducted by BOSEM, she secured the 18th position from Tiny Tots’ Unique School, Imphal.
