APO demands removal of stranded trucks from NH-39

Kohima, May 4 : The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has demanded immediate removal of all Manipur-bound stranded trucks from National Highway 39, particularly at Khuzama area under Kohima district.
In a release here today, APO said as a result of Manipur government's imposition of Section 144 CrPC at the Mao Gate areas on the Nagaland-Manipur border and ban on traveling along the inter-state political boundary, the trucks were being stranded, resulting in creation of law and order problems along the stranded areas.

It also alleged that the passengers passing through the area were harassed by the Manipur police personnel. They warned that any untoward incident arising out, neither the APO nor the people of the area should be held accountable. The APO said the demand was being made in the convenient cohabitation and interest of all.

Meanwhile, Nagaland police said the stranding of trucks has also been creating law and order problems in the areas as the drivers and other travellers of the trucks were temporally camping, preparing food by collecting firewood from some personal land and polluting water sources.

Moreover, sometimes they were being harassed by miscreants, for which police had to be deployed for the safety and security of the truck campers.
