IMPHAL, Feb 25 – The Sixth Pay Commission will be implemented in Manipur in April, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said. Announcing this while observing a function ‘Shannaroshingi Numit’ Incentive State Sports Day at Khuman Lampak, Imphal, today, he appealed to the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council (AMTUC) and the All Manipur Government Employees’ Organization (AMGEO) to withdraw their ongoing indefinite cease work agitation in the interest of the people.

The JAC had launched the cease work on January 16 demanding payment of revised pay, as recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission, with effect from January 2006 with travel allowance and dearness allowance. Several government departments have also joined the cease work agitation of the JAC.
