Oct 21: Altogether 12 contestants will be vying for Miss Dimapur 2010 title on Friday. The preliminary round held on Thursday at Circuit House, Dimapur featured 12 fine-looking girls in their teens. The 12 contestants were also adjudged for the 3 sub-titles of Miss. Photogenic, Miss Perfect 10 and Miss where the results will be declared at the grand finale scheduled on October 22, 5pm at Town Hall, Dimapur.
Judges for the prelim round were Editor Morung Express, Along Longkumer; Director Hope Centre, Zubeno Ovung Mozhui and DMC Advisor sanitation in-charge Er. Vikholie Nienu.
The contestants were judged on the basis of their personality, poise, presence of mind, talent, expression, communication, intelligence and appearance. The two other judges who will later join the other 3 panel of judges for the finale are Sentinaro Jamir as chief-judge (BASN member) and NHHDC Designer, Kagholi Chishi.
Miss Dimapur 2010 will be held under the theme “Total Sanitation for health.”
While interacting with this reporter, one of the judges, Zubeno said for a glamorous event to have a theme like “Sanitation”, the purpose should not just fritter away but make sure the objective is fulfilled.
She pointed out that there is a lot of room for improvement among the contestants and that a real briefing should be made to make them understand the clear concept of the meaning “pageant”. She also added beauty pageants are not only about make-up and physical manifestation.
On being asked why the Club chose “Sanitation” as this year’s theme, one of the organizers said, Dimapur which is struggling to make itself known as one among the metro-cities in the country, lacks proper sanitation.
In order to achieve that, the Club in its humble way of contributing to the society decided to make all the contestants ambassadors of sanitation so they can propagate in their concerned area and colony towards a cleaner district, she added.
The three-day grooming session organised for the contestants concluded on October 21.
Miss Dimapur will walk away with a cash prize of `30,000, and first runner-up and second runner-up would be awarded `20,000 and `15,000 respectively.
The host and choreographer for the evening will be Toshizen Longkumer and Nise Meruno.
Ethereal club would be sponsoring the contestants’ evening gown designed by Aien Longkumer. The event is supported by PHED department and co-sponsored by planning department.
