Moreh bandh called off

Imphal, July 16: Indefinite Imphal-Moreh bandh imposed by the Meetei Council Moreh concluded with immediate effect this evening following an understanding, brought about in a meeting held at Moreh between the agitating MCM and government officials under the
initiative of the MLA Bijoy Koijam.

MLA Bijoy Koijam rushed to the border town following the eruption of a tense situation there as MCM and their supporters rose up against the alleged attempt to abduct president and general secretary of council by suspected armed cadres of KNA. The MLA is in the town on the advice of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi reportedly.

As soon as he arrived there, Bijoy convened a meeting at Moreh Trade Centre in which district level top government officials, DC, H Dilip, SP K Radhasam, CO of 31 Assam Rifles Ravroop, Moreh ADC, Lunminthang Haokip also attended. Former minister, Lunminthang Haokip and leaders of different communities in Moreh also took part in the meeting. The meeting that drafted three resolutions started at about 6 pm and ended at 9 pm.

The first resolution state that civil society organizations (CSO) in Moreh will report every criminal incident that occur in and around Moreh to the low & order enforcing authorities of the district.

The second resolutions related .with to ensure initiation of action by the low & order enforcing authorities to any crime reported in public interest and dealt the same as per the law of the land and the third one related with the call off indefinite bandh imposed by the MCM with the supports other civil bodies like Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Moreh, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Moreh. The resolution was signed by presidents of the Hill Tribal Council (HTC) and MCM in presence of the MLA Bijoy Koijam.
