Manipur Government urged to control prices

Imphal, July 16 :The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has drawn the attention of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh for controlling prices of essential commodities and turning NH-53 as the primary lifeline of the State. The AMADA, which was founded to fight the menace of drugs and related problems in Manipur, submitted a memorandum to Ibobi after a rally from Keishampat Junction here where they staged a sit-in protest as a part of the “Campaign for Survival” launched on July 6 last against price rise.

In its memorandum to the Chief Minister, AMADA urged for effective price control and speedy improvement of NH 53 to make it the primary lifeline of the State. It also highlighted the hardships suffered by the people due to rise inprices of all commodities because of uncertainty on the national highways.

Businessmen and shopkeepers are fixing prices of commodities at their will with the intention to earn maximum profit taking advantage of the prevailing situations on the highways that disturbed the regular flow of essentialcommodities, they cited in the memorandum.
