MLA Makunga decries SoO in Assembly

Imphal, March 10: The underground outfits under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) are not in compliance with the agreements laid down under SoO and so it must be suspended as the government is incurring extra expenditure on it, said Morung Makunga, member of legislative assembly on the third day of the ongoing seventh session of the ninth Manipur Legislative Assembly today.

MLA Morung Mokunga that the underground outfits who have signed SoO have violated the agreement by collecting 50 per cent of the compensation given by the government to the land owners of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Indo-Myanmar border town, Moreh, Chandel district allegedly by the Kuki underground outfit.

Khasim Ruivah, MLA while raising questions on the loopholes in the government schools of the state, stated that several government schools are found with no students coming to attend the class nor the teachers have joined the schools. Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) have not visited any of the schools for verification either, added Khasim Ruivah and stated that such schools should be investigated properly.

Agreeing to the question raised by Khasim Ruivah, MLAs Bijoy, and R.K Anand also raised the same question in the House.
Meanwhile, allocations of funds of 68 crores for 33 departments of the state were being passed while discussing demands for supplementary grants, 2010 in the House on Wednesday.
