Helicopter service in Mnp on card

Imphal, Dec 6: Union Ministry of Home Affairs has given a green signal for the introduction of Helicopter service in Manipur and asked to submit the requite information for the proposed service, official source said Monday.

Joint Secretary (NE) MHA asked the state home department to furnish the requite information stating that the proposed service would be introduced in the state initially between Imphal-Tamenglong-Jiribam-Imphal and Imphal-Moreh-Imphal service.

As per the intimation, the Imphal-Tamenglong-Jiribam-Imphal service would be thrice a week while daily services for the Imphal-Moreh-Imphal.

Keeping in view of passenger amenities and security, MHA also decided that the helipads for Imphal-Tamenglong-Imphal would be at Tulihal airport (Imphal airport), Tamenglong 11 AR helipad (Tamenglong district headquarters) and Jiribam High School Ground, Jiribam while that of Moreh at 31 AR Helipad, Moreh.

The approximate flying time for Imphal-Tamenglong is around 20 minutes, Tamenglong-Jiribam 15 minutes, Imphal-Jiribam 30 minutes and Imphal-Moreh 27 minutes.

Meanwhile for the introduction of the service, authority of the helicopter service would be co-ordinate by Manipur Transport director.

Further, state police department would provide security for each helipad. One company of armed security forces with 10 personnel of CID (SB) in plain cloth for frisking and checking duties and 15 civil police personnel for access point.

MHA also asked the state government to examine the feasibility of operating the helicopter hired by MHA from Guwahati based on the routes mentioned via Senapati once a week for exclusive use by the state government.
