Manipur Advocate General still critical

Imphal 7:The condition of Manipur Advocate General N Koteshwar Singh on Sunday (March 7) remains critical after he was rushed to RIMS hospital in Imphal for treatment on Saturday night.

Suspected militants shot at and seriously wounded 50-year-old top law officer of Manipur state as he was returning in a convoy that also had two ministers in it.

The militants opened fire at around 8 pm when Koteshwar, Works Minister Ranjit Singh and Tribal Minister D D Thaisi were returning from Ukhrul after attending a function there, police sources said.

Koteshwar received the bullets on his chest and arm and his condition in a private hospital was stated to be serious.

It was not immediately clear if the ministers or the Advocate General were the target of the ambush.

A posse of security personnel accompanied the two ministers and the Advocate General, they added.

Police added that another person also suffered minor injuries during the incident.
